My bike's shifting seems off — does it need maintenance?
- Avoid a crossed chain line (large front / largest rear, or smallest front / smallest rear).
- Avoid shifting under heavy load (hard climbs or sprints).
- Shifting feels sluggish at slow cadence — speed up your pedaling and it should improve.
Any tips for keeping my bike in great shape?
- Keep your drivetrain (gears, chain, derailleurs) well-lubricated.
- Dry your bike ASAP after riding in wet conditions.
- A quick rinse and wipe down goes a long way.
- Address loose fittings right away — they can cause permanent damage, to the bike and to you.
