Services & Pricing

Professional bicycle service, brought to you.

Every service is performed with the same care, precision, and attention to detail you'd expect from a trusted local bike shop — without the inconvenience of transporting your bike.

How pricing works, plainly: every visit has a base fee for your zone — it's a floor, not an add-on, and it already covers travel. If your repair costs more than that floor, you just pay for the repair — never the floor on top of it. You're always billed whichever is greater, never both. Rush and Ride Rescue are the only true surcharges, added on top when you use them. No hidden fees, no double-billing.

Example

Full Tuneup, Zone 1 $90 billed already above the $60 base fee, no bump
On-the-Go Tuneup, Zone 2 $45$90 billed bumped up to the zone's base fee
Flat Tire Repair ×2, Zone 3 $70$120 billed bumped up to the zone's base fee
Full Overhaul, any zone $250 billed already above the base fee, no bump

FAQs

Good to know before you book.

Are you located in Ann Arbor or Toronto?
Pedal Tone got its start in Toronto in 2019. After relocating to the Ann Arbor area in 2025, we're proudly serving cyclists throughout Ann Arbor and the surrounding communities. While no longer officially serving Toronto, frequent trips back home mean we can sometimes work something out for non-rush needs.
I need mobile service but I'm outside the listed service area.
Beyond Zone 4 (more than 35 miles from Ann Arbor), we quote each trip individually depending on the exact location. There's no hard rule, but we'll do our best to find the most appropriate solution.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for your arrival?
Nope! Once an appointment is confirmed, just say hi when we arrive — look out for a gray truck. On-site services are performed outdoors (weather permitting) or under a well-ventilated structure, like a garage with the door fully open. The one exception is the Full Overhaul & Detailing, which is picked up and dropped back off rather than serviced on-site.
Can I spectate while you work on my bike?
Absolutely, for on-site services — spectate and ask questions as we go. The Full Overhaul & Detailing is the one exception, since it's picked up and worked on off-site; we'll keep you posted on progress instead.
I broke down mid-ride — do you offer trailside service?
Sorry to hear it — that's the worst. Yes, that's our Ride Rescue service (+$60 on top of your zone's base fee), pending availability. Call or text us directly for the fastest response.
Do you repair damaged carbon frames?
Unfortunately, no — carbon frame repair requires a specialized set of tools and skills we don't currently offer.
Do I need to supply my own parts?
Either works. If you already have the part, bring it along — we'll check that it's the correct fit for your bike before installing, and let you know if it isn't. If you don't have it yet, Anthony also sells commonly needed parts and can recommend or source the right one for your bike.
My service isn't listed on the site — do you take custom work?
Yes — custom and miscellaneous work is billed at our $60/hour shop rate.
Is there a minimum charge for mobile services?
Yes — every visit has a base fee tied to your zone, with travel already included. See the Base & Rush Fees tab above for the exact rate by zone.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, Zelle, Venmo, and credit card. Credit card payments include a small processing fee — see the Services & Pricing section for the exact rate. Gratuity is never expected, but always appreciated.
My bike's shifting seems off — does it need maintenance?
Before booking a service, check your shifting technique:
  1. Avoid a crossed chain line (large front / largest rear, or smallest front / smallest rear).
  2. Avoid shifting under heavy load (hard climbs or sprints).
  3. Shifting feels sluggish at slow cadence — speed up your pedaling and it should improve.
Still having trouble? Book a service and we'll take a look.
Any tips for keeping my bike in great shape?
  • Keep your drivetrain (gears, chain, derailleurs) well-lubricated.
  • Dry your bike ASAP after riding in wet conditions.
  • A quick rinse and wipe down goes a long way.
  • Address loose fittings right away — they can cause permanent damage, to the bike and to you.
